Right click in the middle of the desktop.

Select Change Desktop Background > Go to Theme tab > click Get more themes online
Choose Vista Basic and download it.
The task bars are starting to develop now. Notice the change in color...
For your bottom panel choose Solid color
choose a dark color
pull the transparency down to about 40

Choose a background of your choice
